CrossFit Kids is a method for teaching Greg Glassman’s CrossFit to children ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.
CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the needs of second graders and high-school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. CrossFit Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment, allowing a wide array of socioeconomic groups an opportunity to be physically fit and physically active throughout their lives

I do not have the typical CrossFit story or athletic background, but I do have an extreme love for CrossFit and the way it has shaped my life. I was introduced to CrossFit thru a great friend of mine and personal trainer at the time. In 2012 I decided to change the path in which my life was heading. I made the decision to get healthy thru proper nutrition and exercise (aka a lot of really hard work). I am a mother and wife and I knew that I was not doing my family any service being overweight. Over the next year and a half I lost 90 pounds and found CrossFit. It has been a very long and challenging journey to say the least. The summer of 2013 I walked into my first CrossFit box with a few friends scared to death. I had to modify everything, I was one of the last to finish, I could not do a pullup, and my lord it was so HOT in there. I survived, I laid on the floor covered in sweat and somehow felt completely reborn all at the same time. From that day forward I have been doing CrossFit 4-5 days a week. I fell in love with the community and like minded people, the never ending support, and the new things I was learning to do and about myself daily. As a child I was not athletic at all and at the age of 35 I had finally found “my thing”. I am living, walking proof that ANYONE can do CrossFit! In 2015 I became a L1 CrossFit trainer and a few months later I became certified to Coach CrossFit Kids. I am very passionate about nutrition as I believe it is the base to a healthy lifestyle along with exercise. I want to teach our kids, the next generation, how to be healthy and fit and have fun while doing it.
